The first tram on Pohjolankatu in Käpylä Up to the mid-1930s there were few bus services, so trams did not face real competition. Lines were expanded and the number of passengers rose steadily with Helsinki’s rapid population growth..

American tram American tram supplied by J.G. Brill and General Electric, model 1920. The Tram Company eagerly expanded its fleet in the 1920s, since purchases had to be postponed dur-ing the First World War.
