Disability services during the coronavirus pandemic

Instructions for safe visits to housing units

  • Agree visits to housing units in advance with the staff.
  • You can only visit safely if you are completely healthy, which means you do not have even minor respiratory or stomach symptoms or fever.
  • You may not visit if you are in quarantine or similar conditions or if you are isolated because of a trip abroad, a coronavirus exposure or coronavirus infection.
  • We recommend that you arrange to visit clients outdoors, e.g. go for a walk together.
  • If it is agreed that the visit takes place inside the housing unit, you must wash your hands thoroughly before you enter and maintain safe distances from clients and staff during the stay.
  • During your visit, you may only stay in the client’s apartment or room.
  • Maintain a safe distance of over two metres from others at all times.

    The staff will inform in detail about the practical arrangements during the visit and the instructions given by the staff must be followed.

    The epidemiological unit and the head of unit will inform about possible coronavirus infections or exposures in our unit.

  • Assisted housing services in accordance with the Disability Services Act is meant for persons whose disability or illness necessitates constant assistance with daily activities, assistance at different times of day and night or other extensive assistance, but who do not require institutional care.

    Assisted housing services in accordance with the Disability Services Act is available in group homes, housing groups and supported housing homes. Support and assistance are organised according to the customer’s need on a 24-hour basis or at regular intervals.

    You can become a resident by contacting  the unit for social work for the disabled.

    In addition to the city’s service locations, the service is also available at purchased service units.

    Housing groups

    Advice and assistance with seeking placement in a housing group is available from the disability care social worker at your local disability social work unit.
