The new drive-in coronavirus testing point in Malmi opens September 30

The new drive-in testing point opens on Wednesday September 30 on the square of the old Malmi Airport. The testing point is open daily 8–16.

The new testing point in Malmi is a 300 square feet tent structure with a two-lane drive-in. Besides car, you can also arrive to the location by walking, bike or public transport.

The testing point is open for now and the facilities can be extended if necessary. The tent works in all weather conditions, also in the winter, and the testing facilities are heated.

The coronavirus test is accessed through referral

A coronavirus test appointment can be booked for people of all ages by calling the Coronavirus Helpline, open daily 8–18, tel. 09 310 10024.

When the Coronavirus Helpline is closed and the symptoms are mild, you can wait to the next day. If the matter can’t wait until the Coronavirus Helpline is open or if it regards another urgent illness, contact the Medical Helpline, tel. 116 117.

You should seek to be tested with a low threshold if you have symptoms. Symptoms indicating corona infection are fever, cough, a sore throat, shortness of breath, muscle ache, fatigue, headache, runny nose, nausea and diarrhoea, as well as loss of smell and taste.

What to do when coming to the test

  • Come on time. A guard at the airport gate will direct the driver’s, pedestrians and cyclists to the location reserved for customers at the testing area.
  • Use a face mask when going to and coming from the test.
  • Take care of good hand hygiene during the trip.
  • Make sure to cough and sneeze into a disposable tissue or your sleeve, not into your hands.
  • Keep a two-meter distance to other people.

If you arrive by car, drive through Tattariharjuntie. Show up at your booked appointment. If you arrive too early, you can wait for your appointment in the nearby parking lot. 

Buses 69 and 77 stop at Tattariharjuntie (bus stop Malmin lentokenttä). The walk from the bus stop to the testing point at the Malmi Airport square is about 500 meters.

Fast testing

At the moment (29.9.2020) a customer in Helsinki gets a coronavirus test appointment the same or next day. The test result is ready in 1–2 days.     

The city’s own coronavirus testing points are currently located in Kruununhaka, Jätkäsaari, Itäkeskus and Kannelmäki.

Furthermore, HUS also has testing points in Helsinki in Meilahti and outside the New Children’s Hospital. A private partner in their locations in Messukeskus and Itäkeskus also tests the customers in Helsinki.
