Health stations

Treatment of coronavirus infections in the summer  

  • Online symptom questionnaire omaolo.fi (if necessary, book a testing appointment)
  • The Coronavirus Helpline, tel. 09 310 10024, will be available 1 June–31 August 7:00–16:00. At other times, please call the Medical Helpline, tel. 116 117.
  • Laakso corona health station, at Lääkärinkatu 8 R, will be open as normal 1 June–31 August, on weekdays 8:00–18:00.

Most of the health stations will be open throughout the summer

  • The available health stations will be open 1 June–31 August, on weekdays 8:00–16:00.
  • The health station services in Kalasatama, at Työpajankatu 14 A, will also be open 1 June–28 August, on weekdays 8:00–16:00.

Some health stations will be closed for some of the summer

  • Jakomäki Health Station will be closed 22 June–2 August.
    During this time, the customers of Jakomäki Health Station will be directed to:

    During this time, the customers of Kivikko Health Station will be directed to Kontula Health Station, Ostoskuja 3, tel. 09 310 60410.

Self-treatment product distribution can be contacted online or by phone on weekdays 10:00–14:00, tel. 09 310 55002.

Centralised contraceptive advice services will be closed 13–26 July. Customers can receive the services from their local health station.

Wound care services will be closed 6–26 July. Customers can receive the services from their local health station.

Group activities will not be held 1–31 July.

The child psychiatry work group will not be active 20 July–2 August.    

Dental care

During the coronavirus pandemic, Helsinki residents are guaranteed urgent and essential dental care. The City will gradually re-open its dental clinics in the summer to offer non-urgent oral health care to Helsinki residents more extensively.

Dental care appointment booking is available Mon–Thu 7:00–18:00 and Fri 7:00–15:00 in the summer,
tel. 09 310 51400. The chat service is open on weekdays 10:00–14:00 at www.hel.fi/hammashoito (in Finnish). Currently, appointments cannot be booked at the clinics.

In the evenings, at weekends and on holidays, emergency dental care services are provided at Haartman Hospital at Haartmaninkatu 4, Building 12. Appointment booking on weekdays 14:00–21:00 and at weekends 8:00–21:00, tel. 09 471 71110.

During the night (21–8), emergency oral and dental healthcare services are provided at Töölö Hospital, Töölönkatu 40. Please call in advance, tel. 040 621 5699.

Family and social services

Maternity and child health clinic and family services

Maternity and child health telephone services will be available 15 June–9 August on weekdays 8:00–13:00, tel. 09 310 55530.

Maternity and child health chat service (in Finnish) will be available 15 June–9 August 11:00–13:00.

Maternity and child health chatbot NeRo (in Finnish) is available 24/7.

Maternity and child health clinics will be open 15 June–9 August on weekdays 8:00–16:00.

Jakomäki, Maunula, Paloheinä, Munkkiniemi and Pitäjänmäki maternity and child health clinics will be closed 22 June–9 August. During this time, the customers of these clinics will be directed to other maternity and child health clinics as follows:

  • Customers of Jakomäki Maternity and Child Health Clinic will be directed to Puistola Maternity and Child Health Clinic, Ajurinaukio 1, 00750 Helsinki.
  • Customers of Maunula and Paloheinä Maternity and Child Health Clinics will be directed to Oulunkylä Maternity and Child Health Clinic, Kylänvanhimmantie 25, 2nd floor.
  • Customers of Munkkiniemi Maternity and Child Health Clinic will be directed to Töölö Maternity and Child Health Clinic, Sibeliuksenkatu 14.
  • Customers of Pitäjänmäki Maternity and Child Health Clinic will be directed to Haaga Maternity and Child Health Clinic, Huovitie 5, 2nd floor, and Malminkartano Maternity and Child Health Clinic, Luutnantintie 12–14.

Between 15 June and 9 August, clinics will handle the examinations of expectant mothers and infants aged 1.5 years or under, as well as other necessary examinations.

Maternity and child health clinics will not offer open guidance services 1 June–31 August.

The following special services for families will be closed 13–26 July

  • Couples therapy
  • Family Counselling Office
  • Speech therapy for children
  • Therapeutic work for families with infants.

Service centres and activity centres for informal care

  • All service centres and activity centres for informal care are closed for the time being.

Outpatient clinics

  • The geriatric outpatient clinic (Laakso Hospital, Lääkärinkatu 8, building 4) will be closed 20–31 July. The changes concern the appointment and memory coordinator activities of the clinic.
  • The palliative outpatient clinic (Suursuo Hospital, Suursuonlaita 3 B) will be closed 29 June–26 July. Please contact your local home hospital, if necessary.

Seniors and frontline veterans

  • The Kalasatama and Vuosaari senior help desks (seniorilaiturit) are closed for the time being.
  • Senior Info’s phone service will be available on weekdays 9:00–15:00 from 22 June onwards.

  • The War Veteran Rehabilitation Office (Laakso Hospital, Lääkärinkatu 8, building 4) will be closed 6–31 July.
  • Services for war veterans to support living at home (Mannerheimintie 168 B, 2nd floor) will be available throughout the summer.

Rehabilitation and assistive device services

  • Medical Aid Services (Lääkärinkatu 8, building 4, doorways S and V) will not offer evening appointments on Wednesdays 16:00–18:00 between 1 June and 31 August. The service will be open on weekdays 8:00–16:00. 

Student health care

Appointments (upper secondary schools, vocational schools and young people aged 16–29) 1 June–31 July. Mechelininkatu 46, 4th floor. Please contact the public health nurse at your educational institution or call 050 3105547 on weekdays 8:00–14:30 for further information.

Services for young people and adult social work

Western adult social work

  • The Uusix workshops (Kyläsaarenkatu 8 and Parrukatu 4) will be closed 6–31 July.
  • Pakila Work Centre will be closed 6–31 July.
  • Rehabilitative work activities will be closed 6–26 July.
  • Rehabilitation counselling will be closed 6–31 July.
  • Home care support groups of non-institutional work activities and Café Sumppila will be closed 6–31 July.
  • The activities of nature and environment groups and building and facilities groups will be reduced 6–31 July, during which time work activities will be offered in the available groups.
  • The work ability assessment unit will be closed 6–26 July.

 Northern adult social work

  • Social lending will be closed 13–31 July.
  • The Haaga office of social welfare counselling will be closed 13 July–2 August.
  • The Myllypuro office of social welfare counselling will be closed 6–19 July.
  • The Vuosaari office of social welfare counselling will be closed 20 July–2 August.

Southern adult social work:

  • The Southern adult social work unit in the Kalasatama Health and Well-being Centre will be open 1 June–30 August Mon–Fri 8:00–16:00 (normally Mon–Fri 7:00–18:00).

Resident houses and local centres

The resident houses and local centres listed below will be closed as follows:

  • Betania Residents’ House in Punavuori will be closed on until 9 August.
  • Partnership House Hanna will be closed 3–9 August. 
  • Resident House Saunabaari will be closed until 2 August.
  • Malmi Activity Centre will be closed until 2 August.
  • Resident House Mylläri will be closed until 2 August.
  • Kontula Local Centre will be closed until 16 August.
  • Vuosaari Local Centre will be closed until 28 July.
  • Oulunkylä Seurahuone will be closed 17–23 August.
  • Pihlajanmäki Local Centre will be closed until 9 August.

Work and day activities for the disabled

The following work and day activity units will be closed 6–31 July.

  • Cäpsä service unit for the disabled
  • Töölö service unit for the disabled
  • Vallila service unit for the disabled
  • Pasila Activity Centre

Where needed, replacement activities will be organised as purchased service.

The outpatient clinic for the intellectually disabled (Sofianlehdonkatu 8, building A) will be open 22 June–2 August, Mon–Fri 8:00–15:00 (normally 8:00–16:00).

Psychiatric and substance abuse services

Kalasatama Psychiatric and Substance Abuse Centre will be open 1 June–30 August on weekdays 8:00–16:00. An exception to this is substitution therapy, which will open at 7:00 on weekdays.

Laakso Psychiatric and Substance Abuse Centre will be open 1 June–30 August on weekdays 8:00–16:00. An exception to this is substitution therapy, which will open at 7:30 on weekdays.

Malmi Psychiatric and Substance Abuse Centre will be open 1 June–30 August on weekdays 8:00–16:00. An exception to this is substitution therapy, which will open at 7:00 on weekdays.

Vuosaari Psychiatric and Substance Abuse Centre will be open 1 June–30 August on weekdays 8:00–16:00. An exception to this is substitution therapy, which will open at 7:00 on weekdays.

The Opioid Substitution Assessment Clinic will have reduced operations 6 July–9 August, during which time only urgent matters related to assessment and treatment will be handled.

Group substance abuse rehabilitation programmes 1 will not be held 13 July–9 August 6; rehabilitation programmes 2 will not be held 6 July–2 August.

Villa Sture will be closed 6–19 July. The services will be held at Resident House Hanna.

The Centre for Bipolar Disorder Research and Care will be closed 6 July2 August.

The Family Guidance Clinic will be closed 29 June–2 August.

Aurora Day Ward 10 will be closed 6 July–2 August.

Aurora Day Ward 8-1 will be closed 6 July–2 August.

Laboratories and imaging/X-ray

HUSLAB laboratory service will apply summer opening times 29 June–2 August, which means that the laboratories will be closed on evenings and Saturdays.

  • Kamppi Laboratory will be open 29 June–2 August on weekdays 6:45–16:00. Group screenings outside the summer opening hours will be carried out by appointment.
  • Tullinpuomi Laboratory will be open 29 June–2 August on weekdays 6:45–16:00.
  • Kalasatama Laboratory will be open 29 June–2 August on weekdays 7:00–16:00.
  • Haaga Laboratory will be closed until 30 August.
  • Pihlajamäki and Puistola Laboratories and the testing point of Lauttasaari Health Station are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The opening times for these laboratories have not yet been announced.

Elielinaukio X-ray imaging will be open 29 June–2 August on weekdays 7:30–16:00.

Emergency services                

In the evenings, at weekends and on holidays, patients in need of urgent care are treated at the emergency departments of Haartman, Malmi, Jorvi and Peijas hospitals and the New Children’s Hospital.

Please call the Medical Helpline 116 117 free of charge before visiting the emergency services. The service is available 24 hours a day.
