Helsinki continues to offer COVID-19 vaccines to 1st–5th-graders (7–11-year-olds) at the Jätkäsaari vaccination and Malmi vaccination points. The vaccination is only by appointment.
The quickest way to book a vaccination appointment is online at bookcovidvaccine.fi. You can also book an appointment by calling tel. +358 9 310 46300 (Mon–Fri 8:00–16:00).
Vaccinations are offered to 1st–5th-graders on Tuesdays. You can find the locations of the vaccination points at hel.fi/vaccination.
1st–5th-graders are offered the first and second vaccine doses. The second dose is administered 6 to 12 weeks after the first.
Consent of both guardians is required for vaccinating a child
A child with two guardians cannot come in for the vaccine with only one guardian’s consent – a written consent form signed by both guardians is required. The consent form can be printed from the THL website.
Vaccination for those who have recovered from COVID-19
The first dose of the vaccine can be given to children 4 to 6 months after recovery from COVID-19. If the child has been diagnosed with a laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 infection less than 6 weeks after the first dose, a second dose is recommended at the earliest 4 to 6 months after the infection. If there is a gap of more than 6 weeks between the first dose and the infection, the second dose is not necessary for protection.
Vaccination requires a valid form of ID
In order to get a vaccine, the child’s identity must be proven, for example, with an ID card or Kela card. The vaccine for children is Pfizer 10 micrograms/dose. Vaccination is voluntary and free of charge.
