As has been the case in previous years, the City of Helsinki Rescue Department has prohibited the firing of fireworks in certain areas of Helsinki, such as market squares, parks and shopping centres.
Two additions have been made to the list of areas where fireworks are prohibited: Kansalaistori and Makasiinipuisto. The rescue authorities have assessed the situation based on the current circumstances and concluded that these new areas must also be covered by the fireworks ban.
The areas where fireworks are prohibited are indicated in the PDF attachment. (available only in Finnish)
The Rescue Department hopes that everyone will take the coronavirus situation into account, adhere to restrictions regarding gatherings and celebrate with moderation.
The Rescue Department also urges city residents to think of new ways of celebrating New Year’s Eve that provide seasonal cheer while ensuring everyone’s safety.
