Six participants will be admitted to each workshop. While two of the participants are sewing, the others can wait in the library.
The workshop does not require advance registration.
Face mask collection under way at eight libraries
Helsinki City Library is taking part in an NGO campaign to collect purchased and self-made face masks for those less well off. The libraries involved are: Central Library Oodi and the libraries of Etelä-Haaga, Itäkeskus, Jakomäki, Kallio, Kannelmäki, Pohjois-Haaga and Töölö.
Disposable face masks purchased from shops and pharmacies should be brought to the library in their original packages. Self-made and purchased fabric masks can be donated packaged in clean plastic bags. One bag should contain 1–2 masks.
The Helsinki Deaconess Institute will deliver the donated masks to low-income and vulnerable people within Helsinki. Support and guidance on mask usage will be provided in the same context.
The face mask workshops and collection efforts are part of the #kasvomaskitalkoot volunteer campaign organised by the City of Helsinki, Helsinki City Libraries, Helsinki Deaconess Institute, Martha Organisation, Women’s National Emergency Preparedness Association, and Association of Craft Teachers.
