Etelä-Haaga Library to be renovated into a cosy living room

Etelä-Haaga Library will be closed for renovations 16.11.–29.12.2020. The popular Helsinki-based library will be dusting itself off and welcoming customers back to brighter and much-improved premises right before the turn of the year.

The library is going through extensive renovations which will make it more comfortable and appealing than ever before. The children’s section of the beautiful two-storey library will be fully remodelled and all surfaces will be painted. Some new lighting fixtures will also be installed and some old ones replaced. With the removal of the upstairs service desk, customers will have more seats. The public toilets will also be renovated.

“We will be adding new furniture and lounge areas according to our customers’ wishes. Two small service desks will be set up downstairs, along with a multi-purpose service point with a copy machine, among other equipment. One of the self-service machines will be accessible, so even children can use it comfortably,” says Chief Librarian Lauriina Vilkkonen.

Customers of Etelä-Haaga Library can choose to retrieve their reservations at any other Helmet library. If an alternative pick-up location is not selected, the reservations will be sent to Pohjois-Haaga Library until the renovations are complete. Etelä-Haaga Library’s return box will not be available during the renovations.
