Once again, the winter holiday week 17–21 February offers a great deal of activities and experiences in Helsinki. The EasySport week brings exercise to Töölö Sports Hall, graffiti is knitted at Helsinki City Museum, and at Oodi’s science workshop for juniors, you can search, test and find more questions. The mystery of Kurre’s winter coat takes you to Korkeasaari Zoo, Oodi screens winter holiday movies, and Jääpuisto Ice Park invites you to spend time together with your family. Shrove Sunday comes with a hobby horse circus at the Stoa square and, during the week, libraries all over the city arrange events for holidaymakers.
The EasySport week and a skating event at Kontula’s artificial ice rink
EasySport week, the traditional winter holiday event, is arranged for primary school-aged children at Töölö Sports Hall from Monday to Friday. Töölö Sports Hall offers activities every day at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A wide range of sports is offered, for instance different ball games and racket sports as well as circus tricks. You can also try an interesting virtual exercising game, iWall. You can take part in the EasySport week at Töölö Sports Hall without registration by paying the Sports Hall entrance fee, which gives you access to the activities the whole day. A day ticket is 1.50 euros for children, 3.50 euros for adults and 2 euros for others. The fun at the EasySport week is arranged in cooperation with Helsinki-based sports clubs. The City has not insured the participants.

On Monday and Tuesday, Itäkeskus Swimming Hall offers guidance in water running and swimming technique for the price of the normal entrance fee. The entrance fee also includes romping on the water obstacle course Wibit Aquatrack. This air-filled track, 20 metres long and two–three swimming lanes wide, is available at Itäkeskus Swimming Hall on Monday–Wednesday and Friday at 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
During the winter holidays, the normal weekly FunAction and NYT-liikunta exercise classes are arranged daily. Additionally, a sports event is organised at Liikuntamylly on Wednesday. The event includes games, dancing, exercising and stretching.

Graffiti knitting workshop at Helsinki City Museum
The winter holiday workshop at Helsinki City Museum offers the chance to knit a long scarf of recycled yarn using a knitting loom. The scarf is a joint project by all the workshop participants. After the holiday week, the scarf will be placed in a suitable environment as knitting graffiti. Do you have wool yarn scraps at home? Bring your balls of yarn for the scarf! The workshop is free and directed at schoolchildren. Small children can design wool accessories using colouring images. There is also precision throwing of snowballs in store!
Winter holiday art workshops at HAM
Do you want to try different artistic techniques, like graphic art or cloth printing? Free workshops for 13–18-year-olds are arranged at HAM during the winter holidays on Tuesday–Friday at 1–4 p.m. (children under 10 are to be accompanied by an adult).

The winter atmosphere in Suomenlinna is something special. The businesses at the fortress are open and there are different things to do. Take the ferry to the World Heritage Site and get to know the fortress during the winter holidays!
Winter holiday movies at Oodi
Free movie screenings for schoolchildren at Maijansali (1st floor). No prior registration is required. Maijansali fits a hundred people. The theme is “from book to movie”. Three movies, in total, are shown, all of which originally stem from literature.

Ice-skate with the whole family at Jääpuisto Ice Park on 15 February at 2–4 p.m.
Jääpuisto Ice Park organises an event for the whole family on Saturday 15 February at 2–4 p.m. The event starts at 2 p.m. with the Zamboni’s freezing lap, after which there will be skating performances. After the performances, you can take part in an ice-skating class led by a figure-skating coach. The theme of the class will be applied skating. The class is followed by alpine curling, come try it out for free!
Jääpuisto Ice Park offers a range of events and is open at 10 a.m.–9 p.m. the whole week.
Hobby horse circus at Shrove Sunday at the Stoa square on 23 February at 12–3 p.m.
Shrove Sunday is celebrated at Stoa and the Stoa square with Race Horse Company’s Chevalier performance and circus. Come make your own hobby horse or engage in the winter activities. A collective snow sculpture will be built in the square, weather permitting. In accordance to the Shrove Sunday tradition, the ponies Taavi and Lissu will be at the square. They can give you a lift or you can try riding. We are serving warm drinks and snacks for a small fee. The performance is also subject to a fee. Apart from this, the event is free of charge.
