Maria Hospital gets new life as start-up cluster

Maria Hospital's old premises will soon become the biggest start-up cluster in the Nordic countries. The Helsinki City Board has made the decision to form of a non-profit company Startup Maria, which will operate the cluster. The company decides on the marketing name of the cluster during the spring.

The actors of the operator company are the City of Helsinki, the Startup foundation and Helsinki Enterprise Agency. The objective of the company is to establish a dynamic, inspiring and communal entity, which offers a lot more than just the walls. The premises will have development teams of big companies and other actors that produce communal services working alongside the best start-up enterprises.

The renovation has already begun. In the initial stage, premises of more than 6,500 m² will be taken into use. In the future, it is possible to refurbish thousands of square metres of further space for the cluster. The companies are offered different kinds of premises, from cooperation spaces to private offices, whose sizes can be varied according to need.

The open application procedure for the premises of the cluster will be launched in April. The operator company will provide information on the details of the application process.
