#HELSINKI2018: Meeting to impact movement in the city

The Presidents of the United States and of Russia will meet in Helsinki on Monday, July 16th.
“Helsinki is one of the places in the world that can be trusted to organize the meeting reliably – everything works well here, and we can organize a meeting of such magnitude in just two weeks. Only a few days after the meeting was announced, the meeting arrangements are already highly advanced,” says Helsinki Mayor Jan Vapaavuori.

Traffic and other arrangements

The meeting arrangements are handled by the Office of the President of the Republic of Finland and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland.

The Presidents will be accompanied by large delegations and by hundreds, possibly more than a thousand, journalists.

There will also be a large number of tourists in Helsinki during the meeting of the Presidents. The City of Helsinki will aim to minimize disruptions and inconvenience to citizens and travelers caused by the meeting arrangements. Movement in the vicinity of the meeting venues will be restricted. The restrictions will be announced on the City of Helsinki website Hel.fi and on social media channels.
