Did you know that you can find material in more than 60 different languages in the collections of Helsinki City Library? In addition to the big European languages, extensive collections are available in Chinese, Arabic, Persian, Vietnamese, Somali, and Turkish languages. The extensive collections are naturally designed to serve the foreign population in Finland, but also persons interested in languages and students make studious borrowers. Helsinki City Library has received the mission to function as the Multicultural Library in Finland and to provide for residents with a foreign mother tongue supportive library services, to contact domestic and foreign cooperation partners, inform and provide advice and obtain material for common use in languages, which are rare and the speakers of which are few in Finland.
