School psychologist

A school psychologist listens and provides guidance to a pupil with learning difficulties.

The school psychologist assists pupils with

  • learning difficulties problems
  • attention and schoolwork problems
  • emotional life personal or family crises problems
  • social interaction when there are needs for special teaching arrangements.

The school psychologist makes psychological evaluations, consults and provides guidance, with the objective of increasing the overall comprehension of parents, the child/adolescent or teachers of the situation and helping them to come up with support measures. The school psychologist prepares necessary statements for special teaching arrangements or further evaluations and therapy. Every City of Helsinki comprehensive school employs a school psychologist. The school psychologist contact information can be found on school webpages.
