COVID-19 vaccine is recommended during pregnancy
The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and the World Health Organization (WHO) recommend COVID-19 vaccines for all pregnant women. The coronavirus keeps constantly changing and it is difficult to protect against new variants of the virus by other ways than taking the coronavirus vaccine. A person who is pregnant can get a coronavirus vaccine at any stage of the pregnancy. You can also get a coronavirus vaccine while breastfeeding or planning pregnancy.

Is your child missing vaccinations included in the vaccination programme? – We are inviting you to a vaccination appointment
You can book vaccination appointments for children under school age with your own nurse even during the summer.
Vaccinations will also be provided normally during regular appointments at the maternity and child health clinics, so you do not need to book a separate vaccination appointment if you have already agreed on an age-specific check-up for your child.
You can book a vaccination appointment via Maisa at www.maisa.fi or by using the Maisa app. You can also book an appointment via the telephone service of the maternity and child health clinics on 09 310 55530, weekdays from 8:00 to 14:00.
You can read more about the national vaccination programme for children under school age on the website of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare.

Maternity and child health guidance is provided by public health nurses and physicians.
The purpose of maternity guidance is to promote the health of expectant mothers, foetuses and newborn babies and to foster and maintain the health and wellness of the entire family. A public health nurse and a physician monitor the progress of pregnancy by means of regular check-ups. The number of visits to the maternity clinic and of home visits depends on the individual needs and requirements of the mother and the family.
The purpose of child health guidance is to secure the best possible health of every child and support the family so that the child can have the best possible conditions for growth, a healthy development and well-being. At a child health clinic, the growth and development of the child is monitored. Discussions about the family's health habits and subjects concerning the family are held. The child is given the vaccinations according to the national vaccination programme.
