A 2-year-old bustles about and learns new skills. The child’s own will increases and he or she wants to do things by him or herself. The child is also interested in what the adults are up to.
Children develop individually and at their own pace. All children need encouragement from their parents or carers to try out new things and they also need support for coping with disappointments. The child also requires boundaries and the care of an adult even if the child already considers him or herself to be big.
See the guidebook by the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare below for more information on the development of a 2-year-old (in Finnish).
