Helsinki City Hospital

The City Hospital is responsible for providing acute ward care and home hospital care in situations in which the care provided by emergency units or specialised health care (HUCH) is no longer adequate.

The City Hospital is responsible for providing diagnoses and treatment of somatic illnesses and support for the patients' ability to function. The care work of the City Hospital focuses on acute treatment, geriatric rehabilitation and palliative treatment. The home hospital is an important operator in the treatment chain for infection patients. The City Hospital arranges medical services in the service areas into home care, sheltered housing and around-the-clock care units.

Patients come to the City Hospital wards primarily through emergency services or from specialised care (HUCH) wards to receive follow-up treatment.
