Organisations and the health and social services reform

Organisations play a major role in the preparation of the health and social services reform in Helsinki. At the start of the project, cooperation was initiated with Kumaja, the partnership network of the social service and health care organisations of Uusimaa.

Kumaja’s operations stopped in early 2021, and Helsinki started a dialogue with organisation experts from Uusimaa related to ‘Järjestöjen sote-muutostuki’ (‘health and social services reform support for organisations’). ‘Järjestöjen sote-muutostuki’ is a project entity formed by the Finnish Federation for Social Affairs and Health (SOSTE) and the regional network partners.

The nationwide ‘Järjestöjen sote-muutostuki’ entity ensures that organisations are taken into consideration when the reform is prepared and implemented. Organisation experts form an overview of the regional cooperation with organisations, inform organisations of the reform progress and ensure that the appropriate organisations participate in the preparation work. The ‘Järjestöjen sote-muutostuki’ entity is now representing organisations in the Future Health and Social Services Centre project’s steering group.

As part of the health and social services reform, the City of Helsinki’s Social Services and Health Care Division, in cooperation with the Culture and Leisure Division, is examining the current status and organisational options of services at the interfaces of the city and the third sector.
