How to Apply
Starting from 2020, our annual intake into the pre-year is 100 students, including a special quota of up to 25 students applying from outside the Finnish comprehensive school system.

Completed in 1892, our Kalevankatu school building is one of the oldest in Helsinki. Year 2018 marked the start of a large-scale modernisation effort for the building: renewing building services installations, improving the building’s energy-efficiency, repairing facades, windows and the roof as well as modernising the facilities in a way that supports the operations of the school and students' learning.
The renovation was completed and our school returned to Kalevankatu in January 2020.
Because our IB section has experienced an immense growth, from 25 students a year to an annual intake of 100 students, the Kalevankatu building is becoming too small for both the national lukio and the IB section.
Consequently the city of Helsinki has decided to offer another city-centre building, in the address Ruoholahdenkatu 23, as a base for our IB section. The facilities will be designed in a way that will be specifically suited for IB teaching, including excellent science lab resources and a beautiful library area. The plan is that the incoming pre-year students in August 2020 will have the great majority of their classes there.
Ruoholahdenkatu 23 is about a 15-min walk from Kalevankatu 8-10. The trams 6,7,8 and 9 stop close by, and metro stations Ruoholahti and Kamppi serve the area.
