Rescue Department
What we do
We work for the safety of Helsinki residents and visitors.
We assess accident risks in the city, strive to prevent accidents, and prepare for various incidents and emergencies.
When there is an accident, we are the first on the site. We take care of the rescue and emergency care services in the city.
Who we are
The Rescue Department employs approximately 700 professionals in various lines of work at nine locations. Our facilities are located in different parts of the city to minimise delays in emergencies and to control the risks and special characteristics of different districts.
We follow the core values of rescue services: humanity, professionalism and reliability. These values direct our work in all cases.
Join our team
Join us in doing meaningful and valuable work and ensuring that Helsinki is safe for everyone.
We take our work extremely seriously and always act responsibly – as we should – but our work culture also involves plenty of humour and activity.
