Dangerous chemicals and fireworks

Dangerous chemicals refer to substances and products that are

  • fire or explosion hazards
  • hazardous to health
  • dangerous to the environment

The purpose of the regulations and control concerning the handling of dangerous chemicals is to prevent and avert the possible personal, environmental or property damages caused by the production, use, transport, storage or other handling of dangerous chemicals and explosives.

The operator is responsible for the appropriate handling of dangerous chemicals and explosives and for following their safety requirements. The term operator here refers to a legal person or a natural person, who, for example, manufactures, sells, stores, packs, distributes, holds, retains, uses or in some other way handles a dangerous chemical.

The rescue authorities monitor

  • the storing of dangerous chemicals
  • the small-scale industrial handling and storage of dangerous chemicals
  • storage of fireworks, in connection to their sales
  • private use of fireworks
