Information about the apartments
The City of Helsinki has more than 56.000 rental apartments, and most of them are so called ARA-apartments, built using state subsidies. At the beginning of 2018, these ARA-apartments had around 87 600 inhabitants. There are apartments in almost all parts of Helsinki. You can see Heka's (Helsingin kaupungin asunnot Oy) apartments on a map here.
Urban environment division’s housing services also allocates non-subsidised housing and company housing to the employees of the City of Helsinki. Short-term housing is meant for people, who have the need to live elsewhere for a few months due to e.g. plumbing renovation, work assignment or practical training.
