Arts and culture grants under 50,000 euros can be continuously applied for. However, when applying for a grant for a full calendar year, the application must be submitted before the beginning of the year in question by the date stated in the application deadline. Grants are not awarded retrospectively. Arts and culture grants, basic arts education grants and development grants of 50,000 euros or more have specific application periods. All applications must be submitted by 4 pm on the last application day at the latest.

Arts and culture grants

Arts and culture grants for 2020

Grants of less than 50,000 euros for activities taking place in 2020 can be applied for during the continuous application procedure for 2020.

The preparation and decision schedule of fall 2020 is as follows:

  • Deadline for applications 14 August, 2020 4 pm – Decisions at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meeting on 29 September, 2020.

  • Deadline for applications 25 September, 2020 4 pm – Decisions at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meeting on 10 November, 2020.

  • Deadline for applications 30 October, 2020 4 pm – Decisions at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meeting on 8 December, 2020.

The schedule of municipal officeholder decisions mainly follows that of the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meetings.

When applying for a grant for continuous activities covering the whole of 2020, the application must have been submitted no later than 4 December, 2019. Grants are not awarded retrospectively.

Grants of 50,000 euros or more can be applied once a year for the following year. The deadline for applications regarding 2020 has passed.

Arts and culture grants for 2021

The deadline for applications for arts and culture grants of 50,000 euros or more for continuous and project-based activities in 2021 is 28 August, 2020 4 pm. Decisions will be made at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meetings during the year of 2020.

For arts and culture grants of less than 50,000 euros for continuous and project-based activities beginning during the first three months of 2021 there is a possibility to submit your application by August 28, 2020 4 pm. Decisions will be made at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meetings during the year of 2020.

Arts and culture grants under 50,000 euros can be continuously applied for according to the preparation and decision schedule for 2021. However, when applying for a grant for continuous activities covering the whole of 2021, the application period ends on 4 December, 2020 at 4 pm.

The preparation and decision schedule of spring 2021 will be informed in December 2020. Decisions on the applications submitted by 4 December, 2020 4pm will be made at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's first meeting in 2021.

Multi-year arts and culture grants

The multi-year grants are mainly intended for operators who have previously been granted a minimum of 50,000 euros. Those who have been awarded multi-year grants must submit an application yearly during their grant period to renew the grant. 

The deadline for applications to renew the multi-year grant is 25 September, 2020 4pm. Decisions will be made at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meetings during the year of 2020.

Grants for Alppipuisto Summer Events in 2021

The deadline for apllications for the Alppipuisto summer events in 2021 is 4 December, 2020 4pm. Decisions will be made at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's first meeting in 2021.

Grants for basic arts education

Grants for basic arts education can be applied for once a year for the following year. 

The deadline for applications is 28 August, 2020 4 pm. Decisions will be made at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meetings during the year of 2020.

Development grants

Development grants can primarily be applied for once a year for the following year. Those who have been awarded the development grant must submit an application yearly during their grant period to renew the grant.

Development grants for the Helsinki model projects have been awarded for the years 2019-21. The grant call is not open to new applicants. Those who have been awarded the development grant must submit an application yearly during their grant period to renew the grant. 

The deadline for applications is 28 August, 2020 4 pm. Decisions will be made at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meetings during the year of 2020.
