Arts and culture grants under 50,000 euros can be continuously applied for. However, when applying for a grant for a full calendar year, the application must be submitted before the beginning of the year in question by the date stated in the application deadline. Grants are not awarded retrospectively. Arts and culture grants, basic arts education grants and development grants of 50,000 euros or more have specific application periods. All applications must be submitted by 4 pm on the last application day at the latest.

Arts and culture grants for activities taking place in 2021

Arts and culture grants of less than 50,000 euros for activities taking place in 2021 can be applied for during the continuous application procedure for 2021.

The preparation and decision schedule for fall 2021 is as follows:

  • Deadline for applications 18 August, 2021 4 pm – Decisions at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meeting on 28 September, 2021.

  • Deadline for applications 30 September 2021 4 pm – Decisions at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meeting on 9 November, 2021.

  • Deadline for applications 3 November, 2021 4 pm – Decisions at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meeting on 7 December, 2021.

The schedule of municipal officeholder decisions mainly follows that of the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meetings.

The preparation and decision schedule for spring 2022 will be published later.


Arts and culture grants for activities taking place in 2022

The deadline for applying for grants for continuous activities covering the whole of 2022 or the beginning of 2022 is 31 August 2021 4 pm – Decisions at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's first meeting in 2022, the decision schedule will be published later.  

Grants of 50,000 euros or more can be applied once a year for the following year. The deadline for applications regarding 2022 is  31 August 2021 4 pm – Decisions at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meeting on 7 December, 2021.


Multi-year arts and culture grants

The multi-year grants are mainly intended for operators who have previously been granted a minimum of 50,000 euros. Those who have been awarded multi-year grants must submit an application yearly during their grant period to renew the grant.  New multi-yer grans will not be awarded. Deadline for applications (2022 activities)  31 August, 2021 4 pm – Decisions at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meeting on 7 December, 2021.

Grants for basic arts education

Grants for basic arts education can be applied for once a year for the following year. 

The deadline for applications regarding 2022 is 30 September, 2021 4 pm – Decisions at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meeting on 7 December, 2021. 

Development grants for basic arts education 2020-2022

The grant call is not open for new applicants. Those who have been awarded the development grant must submit an application yearly during their grant period to renew the grant. The application deadline is 30 September, 2021– Decisions at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meeting on 9 November, 2021. 


Development grants

Development grants can primarily be applied for once a year for the following year. Those who have been awarded the development grant must submit an application yearly during their grant period to renew the grant. 

The deadline for applications regarding 2022 is 31 August, 2021 4 pm – Decisions at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meeting on 9 November, 2021.

Development grants for the Helsinki model projects

The application period for the 2022-24 Helsinki model projects is 1 June — 31 August 2021 4pm – Decisions at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meeting on 9 November, 2021.


Grants to promote the cultural activities of elderly people

This grant call was closed on 26 February, 2021 4pm. Decisions were made at the Culture and Library Sub-committee's meeting on 29 April, 2021. More information
