The Helsinki City Executive Office offers various opportunities for the general public to participate and influence the City operations.
The Mayor’s resident evenings are organized in different parts of the city four times in a year. The evenings are hosted by the Helsinki mayor, and the evenings are joined by City experts representing a wide range of areas in the City organization.
The Helsinki-kanava web channel webcasts City Council meetings live.
The Kerro Kartalla (“tell it to us on the map”) interactive pages are used to gather opinions and observations of residents. Surveys are conducted on current topics and plans. The ideas and observations of residents are utilized in further plans.

The City Executive Office’s Information Technology and Communications division includes the unit of Participation and Citizen Information, which develops models for interaction, electronic participation services and local participation. The unit coordinates these activities in the entire City organization.
