Events

Virka-gallery organises activities and public events in the lower lobby and the Banquet Hall around the year. The programme consists of concerts, presentations, meetings with artists and press conferences, amongst others. The first 300 attendees are admitted to the public events organised in the Banquet Hall (in order of arrival).

Fri. 1 Dec. 2017 at 02:00–05:30 p.m. History seminar: One hundred years of Finnish-Estonian relations
Location: The Helsinki House of the Estates (Snellmaninkatu 9–11), registration for the seminar starting 6 Nov.: rsvp@tuglas.fi 

The seminar highlights the different phases in the relations between Finland and Estonia during the decades of independence of the two countries. The seminar celebrates the centenary of Finland and Estonia, but also the 80th anniversary of the Intellectual Cooperation Convention between Estonia and Finland. Speakers are Foreign Minister Timo Soini, MP Erkki Tuomioja, ambassador and writer Jaak Jõerüüt and history researchers Heikki Roiko-Jokela and Heikki Rausmaa. The seminar is arranged by the Finnish-Estonian Cultural Association and the Tuglas Society. Sat. 27 Jan. 2018 at 12:00 noon–04:00 p.m. Future seminar:  Finland and Estonia 200 – joint future? 
The seminar focuses on the current state and future of the Finnish-Estonian relations. The topic is approached though different perspectives: Is a twin-city possible? What will happen to the tunnel between Helsinki and Tallinn? What kinds of innovations bring together or separate Finland and Estonia? What does the future of the languages and the environment look like? Will the population structure change? (in finnish)

The programme includes short introductions and panel discussions. The seminar is organised by: Virka-gallery and The Tuglas Society
