The Hietaniemenkatu Service Centre is a round-the-clock service centre for the homeless. Its purpose is to improve the living conditions of the worst-off homeless people in Helsinki. The centre aims to act as a strongly rehabilitation-oriented unit which refers people requiring further aid to the services they need.
The Service Centre evaluates housing solutions suitable for the long-term homeless as well as their need for support and care. From the Hietaniemenkatu facility the long-term homeless are forwarded to more permanent housing or to appropriate help. The daytime services or the emergency housing service do not require a referral or payment commitment. Staff is present at the premises around the clock, every day of the week.
