Area work consists of activities carried out with residents to improve the local area and its quality of living. Unless indicated otherwise, the activities are open to everybody, and normally they are carried out on voluntary basis.
Resident facilities and suburban centres are used to organize various events and special-group meetings for residents.
Person-to-person social workers assist residents on streets, in shopping centres and at low-threshold resident facilities.
Community work consists of long-term efforts to develop a local community in co-operation with residents, local associations and various other organizations as well as the authorities. The methods of community work can be applied to solve various problems of the community.
