Informal care (family care) is care and attendance provided by family members or other persons close to elderly or handicapped people or people suffering from illnesses who live in their own homes and whose ability to function has weakened.
Family care support consists of services for people in family care, fees and vacations for family caregivers and services that support family care.
A family caregiver can be a family member, other relative or other person close to the care recipient who can manage the task in terms of their own health and ability to function.
Family caregivers sign a family care agreement with the municipality. However, they are not employees of the municipality, the care recipients or the guardians of the care recipients.
