Street maintenance includes ploughing, prevention of slipperiness, street cleaning, and maintenance of pavements and traffic signs.

Helsinki street maintenance is organised by the City of Helsinki. The city plans, commissions and controls most of the street winter maintenance under the City’s responsibility. Stara is an in-house City service provider that handles routine snow removal together with private contractors.
