Restaurant Day and Cleaning Day

While you do not need a permit to participate in Restaurant Day and Cleaning Day, the City requests that participants adhere to the following instructions:

Restaurant Day

  • Sales spots must be located on hard surfaces, such as pavements, asphalt or gravel corridors (not on grassy surfaces). Senate Square may not be used.
  • Pedestrian and motor traffic, events in the area or other use of the area must not be obstructed.
  • The seller is liable for any damage and harm that the sales spot or operations cause to the City or a third party.
  • The seller is responsible for keeping the event location and its surroundings clean during the event, and the seller must remove all litter and other waste from the event location immediately after the event at their own expense.
  • The seller must protect the floor of the sales spot so that no grease or oil is spilled on the ground. Food oil and grease are waste, the collection and transportation of which must be handled by the seller. Food waste etc. must not be disposed of via sewer drains.

Sellers of food products must also take into account the outdoor sales instructions in effect in the City of Helsinki.

Cleaning Day

  • Sellers must register and report their sales spot on the Cleaning Day website.
  • Sales spots must be located on hard surfaces, such as pavements, asphalt or gravel corridors. Grass areas must not be damaged.
  • Pedestrian and motor traffic, events in the area or other use of the area must not be obstructed.
  • The seller is liable for any damage and harm that a sales spot causes to the City or a third party.
  • The seller must remove any unsold or unrecycled items from public areas immediately after the event at their own expense.
