Seasonal sales spots

Short-term seasonal sales spots are available for rent in Helsinki city centre during holidays and city events. The size of these sales spots is 10 m² and their rent is cheaper than that of regular sales spots.

The seasons during which seasonal sales spots can be rented are:

  • May Day 30 April and 1 May
  • Helsinki Day 12 June
  • Night of the Arts, 15.8.
  • Red Nose Day, in autumn (no food preparation)
  • Christmas season 30 November – 7 January

Where are the sales spots located?

What products can I sell?

  • Goods, sweets or food products relevant to the season, for example.
  • Food preparation spots are only leased on May Day and the Night of the Arts.
  • The Kaivopuisto May Day sales spots are meant exclusively for the food sales of Helsinki-based associations.
  • The sales spots on Keskuskatu are only leased for product sales (no food preparation).
    - In order to transport goods to Keskuskatu, a permit holder must collect a key to the removable bollards restricting access to the area. Please call 0500 727209 or 0500 727206.

What are the selling hours?

  • Selling from the seasonal sales spots is permitted between 7:00 and 22:00.
  • Exceptions:
    May Day eve 30 April from 10:00 to 24:00.
    May Day 1 May from 7:00 to 18:00.

What is the duration of the lease?

  • The duration of the lease is usually 1–2 days. An exception to this is the Christmas season, from 30 November to 7 January.
  • The sales spots in Kolmensepänaukio are also leased for longer periods based on applications.

How much does it cost?

  • The rent for a seasonal sales spot (10 m²) is EUR 50/day/spot + VAT (when leased for fewer than 14 days). (Charges YTLK 11.11.2014 § 431)

How do I apply?

  • To apply for a sales spot, please fill out the application form. The application must be submitted to the Public Works Department no later than one month before the seasonal sales date.
  • An exception to this is the long-term Christmas season sales spots at Kolmensepänaukio. Applications for these sales spots must be submitted by the end of June. If available sales spots are left over after the application period, the remaining sales spots may also be granted at a later date.
  • Note! Applications for May Day sales spots at Kaivopuisto must include the following items:
    - Extract from the Register of Companies (no more than 3 months old)
    - the company's profit and loss account and balance sheet information, including auditor's reports
    - the company's annual report
    - the company's operating plan

What is good to know?

  • Seasonal sales spots cannot be rented on a subcontracting basis.
  • Vendors can also sell products in Helsinki from food trucks.Read more
