Health protection plan
The objective of health protection is to maintain and promote people’s health. The purpose of control measures is to prevent, mitigate and remove health hazards in the living environment. Health protection control measures are carried out at locations such as plants supplying household water; pool premises; public beaches; apartments; day-care centres; schools; care institutions; child welfare units; accommodation premises; spa, tattoo and solarium facilities; sports facilities and public saunas.
According to the Health Protection Act, a municipality must compile and approve a Control plan for health protection (In Finnish) on regular control operations. The control plan covers control operations in accordance with the health protection plan as well as other health protection control operations performed by the City of Helsinki’s Environmental Services.
Control operations under the control plan of health protection are usually subject to a charge (Environmental healthcare pricelist, In Finnish).
