Environmental awareness means that the environmental perspective is taken into consideration in decision making and the selection of products and services.
Environmental education supports individuals and communities to develop their values, knowledge, skills and activities in compliance with sustainable development. The education helps to strengthen environmental awareness.
Environmental education services are targeted at all age groups. In addition to information, people’s experiences, impressions and own activities are of key importance in growing environmental awareness.
Educational organizations play important roles in advancing environmental awareness.
Environmental educators can obtain input and inspiration from nature schools and centres, courses, the Baltic Sea Challenge network and the Vihreä Lippu (green flag) programme.
