Applying to daycare
Daycare services should be applied for no later than four months before the need for daycare will begin and as soon as the possible need becomes apparent. Daycare applications remain valid for a year.
An application to private daycare is made by contacting the daycare centre directly.
Applications for municipal daycare and outsourced day care services is submitted electronically. To do so, the parents must have an access to a Finnish bank's online services. The child must have a Finnish personal identification number.
In order to submit the application, you must identify yourself with the sign-in information of the bank's online service. If you are using the service for the first time, you must also register.
Applying with an application form
Application forms for daycare are used in the following cases:
- The child does not have a Finnish identification number.
- The family does not have an on-line service from a Finnish bank.
- Applying using the electronic application is otherwise not possible.
The application form must be posted or left at the daycare centre of the applicant's choice.
When returning an application it is recommended that you make an appointment with the head of the daycare centre. If the need for a place is acute you should contact the daycare centre of your choice.
