Basic library services are available to everybody and free of charge. You can get a personal library card for the use of the services if you are a Finnish resident.

Using library services
The services of the Helsinki City Library branches can be used during the library opening hours. The services of the HelMet.fi web library can be used from any location 24 hours. You can find the contact information and hours of city libraries on HelMet.fi.
HelMet.fi is the joint website and web library of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area libraries, that is, the city libraries of Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen. As a HelMet customer, you can search for materials, make reservations, renew loans and borrow electronic materials.
Courses and user training
City libraries organize a wide range of courses and user training open for everybody and free of charge. There are courses and training for many age groups, in different languages, for people seeking various skills and for groups. Courses are listed on HelMet.fi.
Kysy.fi is a free online information service maintained by Helsinki City Library. Anyone can ask any question on the Kysy.fi page.
