Squares, flea markets and outdoor markets

Helsinki has six squares hosting commercial market place activities, the busiest of which are Helsinki Market Square and Hakaniemi Market Square. In recent years smaller squares in different city districts have also been brought to life, including the tiny Fredrik’s Square, which now hosts a whole range of events.

During the summer the legendary Hietalahti Flea Market is one of the most popular venues in the city to buy and sell items, and vendors should reserve their space in good time. Summer spaces can be reserved online at hietsunkirppis.fi.

Those looking for a traditional market atmosphere should head to Hakaniemi Square on the first Sunday of each month, and to Ylä-Malmi Square on the select days of the year when it hosts markets.
