Squares, flea markets and outdoor markets

Helsinki has six squares for outdoor markets. The most active of them are the Helsinki Market Square and Hakaniemi Market Square. Smaller squares have been livened up with activity in recent years. For example, the tiny Fredrik’s Square hosts various activities.

In summertime the legendary Hietalahti flea market is one of Helsinki’s most popular marketplaces, and vendors should reserve a space in good time.

The Hakaniemi Market Square hosts a traditional outdoor market on the first Sunday of each month, and the Ylä-Malmi Square hosts markets on a few days of the year. A farmer’s market at Teurastamo, or the Abattoir, allows residents to buy products directly from producers. You can check the dates of the farmer’s markets on the Abattoir webpages.

Organize an event at a square or the Abattoir!

Did you know that you can organize events at squares and the Abattoir? Study the terms for event organizers and fulfil an application on the Helsinki Wholesale Market’s website. If you wish to organize an event at the Abattoir, find more information on the Abattoir website.
