Helsinki has more than 400 outdoor statues, public artworks and historical monuments. The oldest public sculptures date back to the late 19th century and some monuments to even earlier times.
Public artworks in city parks, on streets and at squares are part of the Helsinki Art Museum collections. Artworks owned by corporations, the Finnish State and private owners are also placed in public spaces as well as on private property near public spaces. Helsinki cemeteries have approximately one hundred statues and monuments, but only the public monuments are listed on the City Museum pages.
