**Helsinki supplement is paid, when the daycare is full time daycare, meaning over 20 hours/week. NB! Starting from 1 August 2020 Helsinki supplement is paid for daycare over 25 hours/week.

Applying for the allowance

The child's parent must apply for the allowance from Kela via the appropriate forms application for child home care allowance and private care allowance (WH1e).

A private daycare centre, family daycare provider or a child minder hired at home will fill a Private Daycare Provider Identification Form (WH2e).

Payment of the allowance

Kela pays the private care allowance to the daycare provider: a private daycare centre, private childminder or a childminder who has been hired to work in the family's home.

NB! Starting from 1 August 2020, the employment or educational situation of the parent or other guardian will no longer affect the amount of the private day care allowance.
