Parents' committees

Parents are encouraged to participate in the early education planning and activities with the staff.

Parents can establish parents' committees that support and supplement daycare and early education. A chairperson and treasurer are elected for the committee from among the parents of the children in daycare.

The parents and the parents' committee may use the premises of the daycare unit free-of-charge to organise events that support daycare. If an event is held outside the operating hours of the daycare unit, the parents are responsible for the children's care.

The parents or parents' committee must fund their own operations and organise bookkeeping in such a way that it can be reviewed by all parents. By virtue of the city's instructions, daycare staff may not take part in raising funds for or managing the finances of the committee.
