Injuries

Treatment of injuries

In the event of an injury, first aid will be administered immediately and the parents will be notified as soon as possible. If the injury requires further treatment, the child will be taken to the nearest health station, dental clinic, city centre dental clinic's emergency unit or the emergency health centre service or specialist emergency service of the HUCH Children's Hospital at Stenbäckinkatu 11, depending on the nature of the injury. If necessary, the public health care unit will refer the child to a private service provider for care.

Should the child require aid equipment after the injury, the unit supervisor will, together with the parents, assess the child's capabilities of participating in the activities.

Injury reports to insurance companies and coverage of treatment costs

The City of Helsinki has insured children in daycare. The daycare staff reports injuries to the insurance company. The insurance company will compensate treatment costs according to the fees of public health care or the costs of private health care for which a referral from public health care has been issued.

The insurance does not cover income losses caused by arranging home care for a child, nor will such costs be compensated by the City of Helsinki.

Injuries occurring in daycare are monitored systematically.
