Municipal elections

Municipal elections are held every fourth year. The next election will be held in 2021.

Municipal elections are held to elect the councillors of the municipalities. Helsinki City Council has 85 permanent members.

By voting in municipal elections you can influence the decisions on issues that affect your daily life such as health care, youth facilities, child day care, libraries, school meals, local traffic and elderly care.

Sauli Niinistö continues as the president of Finland.

Results by candidate will be published for the whole country, electoral district, municipality and polling area. The confirmed results will be ready and published by Tuesday 30th January after every electoral district has confirmed their results.

The election day was Sunday 28 January 2018, and the advance voting between 17 and 23 January and abroad between 17 and 20 January. Read more
