Kontulan kuntokellari gym is located in the population shelter facilities next to Kontula Library. The facility features a gym, weightlifting room, and sports hall.

Other info: Parking lot by Ostostie, those under 15 years of age not permitted without a guardian, the age limit for the gym is 15 in order to ensure general safety. Small children are not permitted in gyms for their own safety, indoor exercise clothes and shoes must be worn in the gym.

The route to the main entrance

  • The pick-up and drop-off area is located in the vicinity of the entrance, giving easy access to the pavement.
  • The route to the entrance is smooth and sufficiently wide.

The main entrance

  • The entrance is hard to perceive but illuminated
  • The doors connected to the entrance stand out clearly. Outside the door there is sufficient room for moving e.g. with a wheelchair. The door is heavy or otherwise hard to open.
  • The entrance has thresholds over 2 cm high.

In the facility

  • The sports facilities are located on floor -3.
  • For moving around, there is a lift, which can hold a wheelchair; the door is heavy. The floor numbers in the lift can be felt with fingers. (The minimum dimensions for an accessible lift are width 1.1 m and depth 1.4 m.)
  • The service point has directions to the different facilities.
  • The indoor walkways have a ramp over 6 m long with an intermediate landing.
  • The facility has an accessible toilet on floor -3.
  • The customer service/cashier's desk is located on the same floor as the sports facilities.
  • The customer service/cashier's desk can be found easily. The desk is accessible to customers standing only.

Dressing room, shower room and sauna

  • The dressing rooms are located on the same floor as the sports facilities.
  • The facility does not have an accessible dressing room. The men's/women's dressing rooms must be used instead. The door of the dressing room opens easily manually.
  • The dressing room has sufficient room for a wheelchair and assistant. Good illumination and clear contrasts facilitate spatial perception. There are lockers in the dressing room.
  • The shower room is connected to the men's/women's dressing room. The door of the shower room opens easily manually.
  • The facility does not have a sauna.

Sports facilities

  • The door of the gym opens easily by hand. Unobstructed mobility with a wheelchair or other aids is not possible in the gym. The equipment is within everyone's reach (storage height 0.8-1.2 m).
  • The gym features contrast differences between the floor and wall and between the floor and equipment. There is no glare in the gym.
