Description:
Pirkkola swimming hall is part of the Pirkkola sports park located in Helsinki central park. The legendary swimming hall built in the 1960s includes three swimming pools, a waterslide and diving platforms. Swimmers have at their disposal five separate electric saunas and one easily accessible sauna. In addition, the hall includes gym and weight-lifting facilities, meeting rooms for approximately 50 people, a café and a sun terrace in summer.
Pirkkola swimming hall is easily accessible. The dressing rooms and washrooms are easily accessible and the swimming hall features accessible sauna and toilet facilities, pool lift in the deep pool and teaching pool as well as shallow stairs. A shower wheelchair can be borrowed from the service desk.

Other info: 2 parking lots. Pirkkola Sports Park features two parking areas on different sides of the park. The so-called ice hall parking area is located along Pirkkolantie, at Plotinrinne 1, to be exact. The so-called swimming hall parking area is located at Pirkkolan metsätie 6. The swimming hall parking area also has disabled parking.

  • The 4 accessible parking spaces are located outdoors over 10 m from the entrance. The width of the parking spaces is at least 3.6 m.

  • The entrance is hard to perceive but illuminated
  • The doors connected to the entrance are hard to perceive. Outside the door there is sufficient room for moving e.g. with a wheelchair. The door opens easily manually.

  • The sports facilities are located on floor 2.
  • For moving around, there is a lift, which can hold a wheelchair that is difficult to perceive; the door opens easily manually. The floor numbers in the lift cannot be felt with fingers. (The minimum dimensions for an accessible lift are width 1.1 m and depth 1.4 m.)
