The official Registry Website of the .Helsinki top-level domain name.
The “.Helsinki” Top Level Domain (“TLD”) established by and for the use of City of Helsinki, the Registry Operator for the TLD space.
The ICANN organisation has given the City of Helsinki the right to use the domain name .helsinki. At the moment, the City of Helsinki uses the address Hel.fi, while the address Helsinki.fi belongs to the University of Helsinki.
The new .helsinki root domain will allow for the City to have its name in its Internet addresses. The common .helsinki domain clarifies the identification of the City of Helsinki websites both domestically and abroad.
The new .helsinki addresses will be under the control of the City. The City can decide what kind of names it wants to use and who they will be handed to.
.helsinki – in which phase is now?
The agreement between the City of Helsinki and ICANN came into effect in the beginning of 2015. The City will look into the possibility of using the .helsinki domain during 2016.
