Adaptation coaching is an individual or group-form activity with a definite goal, where the result is social rehabilitation, minimising the problems caused by the disability.
The service is intended for a disabled person and his or her close network.
In the adaptation coaching course, the participant practises social skills in a focused manner, utilises peer support and aims to mitigate the problems caused by their disability to their everyday life. The individual adaptation coaching may include, for example, sign-language teaching, the practising of image communication, the guidance of mobility skills or housing training.
The service is granted on a case-by-case basis and it is based on the resources allocated to it.
The services are free of charge for the customers, but expenses may occur due to the journeys.
The service need is assessed, based on the doctor's statement and statements from other specialists.
The service is only for citizens of Helsinki.
