Work with Romani families

Goal-oriented and systematic family work at home, intended for Romani families.

The work is intended for families requiring early support, client families of child welfare services and young people in follow-up care. Family work provides support for managing the everyday life, for parenthood and for the education of children and young people. Family workers of Romani families also help the family in practical issues when visiting various offices, for example.

Open family club activities are intended for Romani families living in the capital city area. Family club organises discussion groups for parents, guided activities for children and visits with various themes by specialists. Family club also offers personal guidance and advice for different situations of everyday life.

Family workers of Romani families provide consultative assistance about the Romani culture and on issues concerning the schooling of Romani children and young people and on education and employment. In addition, they provide support for challenging customer situations of Romani families with, for example, Child Welfare Services or Social Work with adults.

Family workers of Romani families arrange training events on Romani culture and customer work with Romani families. Trainings are arranged for all the workers and work communities of the City of Helsinki and its educational institutes.

Family workers of Romani families also participate in multidisciplinary network cooperation at the city level.

The services are free of charge for the customers.

Prerequisites:

Romani families.

The service is only for citizens of Helsinki.
