Volunteer work talking buddy in services for the disabled

The talking buddy visits customers at activity centres to talk or hold small discussion groups. Customers can converse over, for example, some board games.

The meetings are arranged in collaboration with the customer and social counsellors. The work can be sporadic or regular. Meetings are held at an activity centre, on weekdays between 9: 30 and 11: 00 or between 13: 00 and 15: 00.

The volunteer worker's visits make it possible to hold person-to-person or small group sessions, which provide customers with the chance to play or talk about things important to them in a peaceful environment.

The volunteer gets the chance to meet and get to know different kinds of people, and make a difference.

The person responsible for the activities, who should be notified in case of accidents or incidents, is the director or contact person of voluntary operations.
