Local work with people outside substance abuse or psychiatric services and with people in crisis situations

Street-based social work comprises establishing contact with people showing signs of psychological distress in public spaces, building trust with them, carrying out a situational assessment and steering them towards services.

Street-based social work works together with the substance abuse and mental health sector, for example by patrolling the streets together.

Street-based social work encounters people in the middle of acute crisis situations, with whom the worker carries out psychosocial work by talking with them and, if necessary, steers the towards the services offered by crisis emergency services.
