Access to patient data information

A person can request to access their information in person or in writing at Social Services and Health Care offices. The right to access the information is primarily realised in the unit in which the information was generated.
The goal is to provide the information without delay and, upon request, in writing.

The customer is given an opportunity to review their information on a computer screen, and upon request, the information is printed out to the customer's preferred extent.

If the right to access is denied, which is exceptional, a written refusal certificate is provided. The certificate provides the reasons for denying the right to access, as well as appeal instructions.

The data subject may bring the matter to the attention of the Data Protection Ombudsman.
