Psychiatric hospital treatment

Psychiatric hospital treatment provides intensive examination, treatment, and rehabilitation to support psychiatric outpatient care or in cases when other forms of treatment are deemed inadequate. The hospital treatment is provided at Aurora Hospital (Nordenskiöldinkatu 20, 00250 Helsinki).

Psychiatric hospital care is sought via referral, or in urgent cases, through the Malmi or Haartman Hospital emergency services.

The hospital has a psychiatric first aid ward, special care ward, general psychiatry wards, mood disorder wards, and psychosis line acute and rehabilitation wards. The Aurora Hospital area also hosts a special care outpatient clinic, a unit offering mobile and intensive outpatient care, group therapy centre, psychiatric physiotherapy and exercise services, day units, and outpatient care coaching and housing rehabilitation units.

The forms of care and rehabilitation cover a wide range, from acute phase early rehabilitation to individually customised psycho-social and professional rehabilitation, when necessary.
